Being an owner of a dog is really enjoyable but is a big responsibility too. From selecting your dog or a puppy, to choose a right veterinarian, providing a secured and suitable environment for your loving pet, its health and wellbeing completely depend upon you. Taking care for a pet dog and to know about its basic needs is very important for the dog owner to keep his pet healthy and active.

The complete care for your dog is to be taken with its proper nutrition plus feeding. We often speak ‘we are what we eat’, if this phrase is workable on us then why not on dogs? it is true for our dogs also therefore, we should know and give the best selected food to our dogs and should properly know about their necessities like how much they need at a time and at how many intervals. With the help of right diets, we can prevent our dogs from being them diseased and can help them to live healthier and longer lives.

In order to provide your dog and puppy good and nutritive food, you need to properly understand and know for the pet’s food ingredients, nutritional and labeling requirements for proteins, carbohydrates and fats in canines. We need to give more in-depth look towards the dogs’ diets that consists the big brand name diets, all-natural diets along with vitamins and other food supplements.

We often feed dogs too much than what they require, and due to this they become fat and develop various health problems. Sometimes, we give them too little; as a result they turn into scavengers. Therefore, it is very important for the dog owners to understand the type of the diets, its nutrition value and how much food should be given to their pets for the healthy growth of a dog.

Including with loads of things, there is nothing like same answer to all of the questions. Every pet as an individual requires specific type of diet to feed and the amount of nutrient content, in addition to their size, breed, age and any existing medical problem is needed to be considering while feeding them. Dogs are always recommended to get a premium quality diet that perfectly meets Association of American Feed Control, AAFCO guidelines for the healthy and longer living of the dog.

The diets of dogs should include meat but these should not contain any artificial colors or preservatives. Semi-moist foods are not preferred to given the pets because they are high in levels of sugar and salt, which could be harmful for your dogs causing dental diseases to them.

While feeding your dogs, you should remember few facts about them:

*         While dairy products are rich in protein and fat but they might not be right dietary for dogs because they can build up lactose intolerance.

*         Too much liver can cause vitamin A or D toxicity or diarrhea because it contains nutritional components highly.

*         Do not turn your pet into vegetarian, because all vegetarian diet do not make them healthier.

*         While fat scraps help out the dog’s coat to shine but lot of it may cause pancreatic disease or diarrhea.

*         Your dogs may dehydrate easily so your dog needs lot of water and dog’s water intake should never be restricted in any case.

Therefore it is very important for a dog owner to take care of his dog properly apart from providing the correct diet to make the dog healthy and free from diseases.
